Hidden Gems in Sri Lanka | amanté Ignites

In our fourth installment of amanté Ignites, we invited our Enchantresses to experience Sri Lanka like they have never seen! We introduced Rukmankan Sivaloganathan to divulge his best secrets on trending island destinations, activity and adventure travel, as well as Sri Lanka’s next hot spots!

Rukmankan, the founder of Go Experientially and Trekurious, focuses on experiential travel and lifestyle adventure. His business caters to luxurious travel destinations with memories you simply can’t forget!

He started the event off with hidden gems in and around Colombo to get the evening buzzing! Independence Square might not seem like a hot topic destination to you and me, however, have you been to the museum-esque room hidden underneath the square? Take a jaunt along the walls of the square until you come to a wooden door on the side (facing the fountains) and witness the artwork yourself!

Keeping in line wit h the topic of art, take a few hours off to enjoy George Keyt’s murals and Gothami Vihara or if you’re in the area, the murals at Sri Subhodharamaya in Dehiwela.

If you’re looking for a classic experience of adventure, Rukmankan hit the spot! Thought white water rafting was the definition of excitement? Skip the rafting and try your hand at kite surfing! Kalpitiya is a fantastic spot to enroll in a few hours-worth classes and get going in the water!

If you want to notch up the adrenaline, experience Paramotoring, a powered version of paragliding offered by SkyClub in Bentota!

If you’re in the mood for some rustic luxury and the desire to get away from the sunny beaches, Rukmankan gave us a glimpse into a champagne picnic barbeque in a national park! Trek your way to the Udawalawe National park and stay at the Gal Oya Lodge to enjoy all the benefits! Alternatively, if you’re feeling like driving to the heart of the city of Kandy, make a stop at Helga’s Folly to witness stunning views of the ancient city and to hauntingly beautiful works at the place!

To finish off the evening, Rukmankan talked us through the next hotpots before tourists and locals come flocking! Herikitiya beach, located close to Dikwella will be the next Hikkaduwa/Unawatuna/Mirissa. Explore the beauty of calm waters, golden sand, and privacy at Herikitiya!

To entertain further the secrets of Sri Lanka, we concluded the evening at Tea Breeze with a few rounds of finger food and iced tea! It was a thoroughly enlightening evening with questions all around! Stay tuned for our next instalment coming soon!
